CD SHOWCASE MEMORIES

WELCOME TO JULY 1, the start of the 2nd half of the year!

THEME = Remake Wednesday: original (Lee Greenwood) & cover (Reba McEntire)

For the 1st entry of this theme, a look at a song (written by Don Goodman, Pam Rose & Mary Ann Kennedy) originated in 1982 & covered in 1996.

#1 (original)
Lee Greenwood 1st recorded this song for his album ‘Inside Out’. This single, his 2nd overall release (behind the album’s title song), debuted 03/27/1982, spent 18 weeks on the country charts & peaked at #5. It was his 1st Top 10 & 1st Top 5, sparking a string of 10 straight Top 10s.

#2 (cover)
Reba McEntire recorded this song for her album ‘Starting Over’. This single debuted 11/11/1995, spent 20 weeks on the country charts & peaked at #9 in early 1996. It was her 42nd Top 10 & was sandwiched between 2 songs that barely cracked the Top 20: 1995’s “On My Own” (#20) & 1996’s “Starting Over Again” (#19).
