Coffee Cocktail:
Know how sometimes you come across something you vividly remember, but realize you had long since forgotten? That happens to me quite frequently when I check out Facebook’s “Memories” feature! That noted, I had completely forgotten I had received the following letter of encouragement in early July 2017, after I had mailed out a bunch of OC,SH business cards; if only I had started CD Consulting Services back then.

“Hi Cort,

I wanted to take the time to thank you for reaching out to me & my small business. It’s nice to know youngsters like you care about the old geezers like me, & more importantly, the mom’n’pop establishments across the country. You’re right: ‘When we help others succeed, we succeed.’ In nearly 40 years in the classic car industry, I can tell you I’ve lived, & am proof positive of, that adage. Among my endeavors to help the community in which my business was, I sponsored the high school, I sponsored the Little League & I even sponsored other businesses, even some new car dealers. & ya know, that support usually came back to me. Sometimes it didn’t, of course, that’s just human nature (er, at least, that’s what I told myself), but it always made me feel good to help out others.

You might’ve noticed my past-tense talk of my business. You wouldn’t have known this when you mailed your letter & Old Cars, Strong Hearts business cards, but I made the decision to close up shop. My last day in business was July 4th, so I could sponsor the town parade one last time. Oh, I already miss it, but it was the right time. You see, I didn’t have a website or Facebook page, & I could tell my business was suffering because of it. Had I received your information a month or so earlier, I might’ve opted to stay in business. Why? Because I would’ve loved to have been a partner with your website, both in terms of sponsoring it, & in terms of having cars featured in your “Daily Vehicle Choice”! But, I’ve already contracted to have the remaining cars transferred to another classic car dealer, so no going back now.

My son & grandson showed me your website & Facebook page. All I can say is, awesome. All 3 of us were astonished, though, to not see more interaction on your Facebook page, considering how many “likes” you have. Your posts are quite entertaining & brought back many memories for each of us. I’m amazed you do all of that all by yourself; your talents are quite amazing.

Anyway, thanks again. I wish you the best of luck, & sure hope others DO take you up on your very generous offers. It’s that kind of out-of-the-box thinking that helps businesses grow.
