What catches your spying-eye radar!?

‘The Car’ is a thriller film that hit theaters 05/13/1977, ~4 months after the airing of the 1st of 2 made-for-TV movies of “Fantasy Island” featured in this week’s “TV Tuesday” (seen via THIS LINK HERE). Written by Michael Butler, Dennis Shryack & Lane Slate, this movie was directed by Elliot Silverstein. The “evil” black car is a customized 1971 Lincoln Continental Mark III, designed by George Barris. 4 cars were built for the motion picture in 6 weeks; 3 were used for stunts & the 4th for close-ups. Despite being among 1970s “road movies”, this was not a critic darling; in fact, Gene Siskel’s headline referred to this movie as “The Cinematic Turkey of 1977”. The cast includes James Brolin, Kathleen Lloyd, John Marley, Elizabeth Thompson, Ronny Cox, RG Armstrong, John Rubinstein, Kim Richards, Kyle Richards, Roy Jenson, Kate Murtagh, Doris Dowling, Eddie Little Sky & Lee McLaughlin.
