“Mister Ed” is 1 of the few series to debut in syndication & then be picked up by a major network for prime time feature. This series originally aired in syndication 01/05/1961 to 07/02/1961; then, CBS snatched it & scheduled it 10/01/1961 to 02/06/1966. The title character, a talking horse, originally appeared in short stories by Walter R Brooks, beginning with “The Talking Horse” (09/18/1937 issue of ‘Liberty’ magazine). While the main cast included Allan Lane, Alan Young, Connie Hines & Bamboo Harvester, the series featured some celebrity guest stars as themselves, including Mae West, Clint Eastwood, George Burns, Zsa Zsa Gabor & Leo Durocher.
