Can you name a more creepy theme than that of “Unsolved Mysteries”? This theme (heard via this LINK HERE), composed by Michael Boyd & Gary Remal Malkin, is ingrained into my brain as 1 of the more scary themes of my childhood! Paired with the voice of host extraordinaire Robert Stack (1987-2002), this theme sends shivers down my spine! How about you? This show’s concept was created in a series of 3 specials produced by John Cosgrove & Terry-Dunn Muerer pitched in 1985 & shown in 1986 under the name “Missing … Have You Seen This Person?” The success of the specials opened the door to featuring mysteries of ALL kinds. The original pilot that became the TV series aired 01/20/1987 & was hosted by Raymond Burr. In the 1987-8 season, 6 more specials aired, 2 hosted by Karl Malden & the final 4 hosted by the chilling-voiced Stack. With the series inexplicably decreasing in popularity, the show jumped networks to CBS (1997-1999) & then Lifetime (2001-2002). After Robert Stack’s 2003 death & Lifetime’s expiring contact (2008), Spike TV attempted a resurrection of the show with Dennis Farina as host (2008-2010). Among people used as actors was Matthew McConaughey in a 1992 episode. Today, the show maintains a YouTube page where viewers can submit their own mysteries.
