#1 “You Still Move Me” | Dan Seals
You know how some songs take you back to a specific place & time, no matter how many times you’ve heard them? That describes this song for me! While it was nearly 20 years old at the time & I had heard it countless times previously, each time I hear this song now, I’m taken back to my October 2004 road trip. I have this song on a compilation CD, which I put in the CD player of my rental car as I drove between Denver CO & Salt Lake City UT via I-80 west through Wyoming. The single originally hit the airwaves 10/25/1986, spent 22 weeks on the charts & claimed #1 in early 1987. At that time, it was his 4th straight chart topper, a string that lasted 5 more songs to reach 9 straight. The string had been sparked by 1985’s “Meet Me In Montana” (duet with Marie Osmond) & continued with such tunes as 1985-6’s “Bop” (CMA’s Single Of The Year) & 1986’s “Everything That Glitters”.

#2 “Addicted” | Dan Seals
After “You Still Move Me” topped the charts, the string of #1 tunes continued with hits like 1987’s “I Will Be There”. This song debuted 06/18/1988, spent 22 weeks on the charts & became his 8th straight #1 smash. The last of the 9 straight chart toppers was 1988-9’s “Big Wheels In The Moonlight”. This song, tho, is 1 of those that just speak to you, whether or not you can identify with it 100%. Seals, a member of the England Dan & John Ford Coley duo, is related to Johnny Duncan & died of cancer 03/25/2009.

#3 “The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia” | Reba McEntire
This song, a cover of Vicki Lawrence’s 1972-3 Billboard Hot 100 2-week #1 hit, debuted 04/25/1992, spent 20 weeks on the country charts & peaked at #12. [Yes, that Vicki Lawrence of “Mama’s Family”.] This is 1 of my MANY favorite Reba tunes (too many to mention); as much as I remember hearing this single on the radio, I’m surprised it didn’t notch higher on the charts. Reba, a native of Chockie OK, has had quite the career, spanning mid 1976 to today, including 2 TV shows, “Reba” & “Malibu Country”.
