“The Incredible Hulk” originally aired on CBS, 03/10/1978 – 06/02/1982, with a pair of pilots 11/04/1977 (original movie) & 11/28/1977 (sequel). Based on the Marvel Comics character The Hulk, the series was developed & produced by Kenneth Johnson, who also wrote & directed some episodes. The cast includes Bill Bixby (as “David Bruce Banner”), Lou Ferrigno (as “Hulk”), Jack Colvin (as “Jack McGee”), Ted Cassidy (as narrator & Hulk’s voice) & Charles Napier (replacing Cassidy after his death). Bixby was Johnson’s 1st choice for David, & Arnold Schwarzenegger originally auditioned to be Hulk, but Richard Kiel was initially hired to play the part. He was replaced with Ferrigno after Johnson’s son pointed out that Kiel’s physique didn’t resemble Hulk’s. Notable guest stars: Susan Sullivan (original pilot), Brett Cullen, Kim Catrall, Ray Walston, Brandon Cruz, Brenda Benet, Stan Lee & Jack Kirby. After the series ended, Banner’s fate was a cliffhanger until 1988, after a rival network purchased filming rights & produced 3 TV movies: ‘The Incredible Hulk Returns’, ‘The Trial Of The Incredible Hulk’ & ‘The Death Of the Incredible Hulk’.
