With Laurel Richards Kane’s death last week, I found myself looking at pics from my Route 66 road trip, specifically my afternoon with her in Afton & Tulsa OK, 09/08/2009. After she closed Afton Station ~3p (her normal time), she rode with me while Ron McCoy drove her car back. Before we left the Afton area, she wanted to make sure I experienced this pre-1937 stretch of Route 66 … such a neat part of the road you can actually still drive:
