THEME = recreation: featuring Madonna & Trace Adkins

2 songs from the 10:30p-11p timeframe of my 04/21/2006 radio show….

#1
Originally written for the 1985 movie ‘Vision Quest’, this song hit the airwaves 03/02/1985 & claimed #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 (replacing the very popular “We Are The World”), while reaching #2 on the Adult Contemporary chart. Elsewhere, the song also topped charts in Australia & Canada while notching in the Top 10 in Ireland (#2), Japan (#4), Netherlands (#9), New Zealand (#2) & England (#2). This song was a different genre of sorts for Madonna, who surprised many people with her performance.

#2
I played this song for all of the car lovers listening. Since his debut on the country charts in mid 1996, Springfield LA-native Trace Adkins has become 1 of my many favorite artists. His 1st Top 10 was 1996’s “Every Light In The House” (#3). This song (the follow-up release to 1 of my favorites of his, 2002’s “Help Me Understand” which inexplicably only managed #17) debuted 09/28/2002, spent 25 weeks on the charts & peaked at #10. The time I most-remember hearing it was December 2002, driving into Chicago for my appointment with the surgeon for my 01/06/2003 open heart surgery.
