Snow Patrol originally formed in late 1994 by University of Dundee (England) students Gary Lightbody, Michael Morrison & Mark McClelland. While notching 5 Top 10s in England, the band is considered a ‘1-hit Wonder’ in the United States because of this song, their only Top 10 in the US. Released 06/06/2006 as the 2nd single from the band’s 4th studio album, ‘Eyes Open’, this song gained popularity after being featured in the 2nd season finale of TV’s “Grey’s Anatomy”. This single peaked at #5 on the Billboard Hot 100 & #8 on the Alternative Songs charts, while claiming #1 on the Adult Contemporary chart. Internationally, it reached the Top 10 in 11 other countries, including England (#6).

Soul Asylum originally formed in 1981 as Loud Fast Rules, then made it officially Soul Asylum in Minneapolis MN in 1983. 10 years later, this song became their best charting, best known & signature tune; released 06/01/1993, it became popular the fall of my sophomore year in college. I remember hearing it during several late night drives that semester. This single peaked in early 1994 at #5 on the Billboard Hot 100, #3 on the Mainstream Rock Tracks & #15 on the Adult Contemporary charts. Elsewhere, it notched in the Top 10 in 11 other charts. Other notable tunes from this band include 1992’s “Somebody To Shove”, 1994’s “Can’t Even Tell” & 1995’s “Misery”.
