‘Walk The Line’ debuted in US theaters 11/18/2005, after 1st appearing at the Telluride Film Festival 09/04/2005. Directed by James Mangold, the film’s screenplay was written by Mangold & Gill Dennis, based on 2 autobiographies about singer-songerwriter Johnny Cash: 1975’s ‘Man In Black: His Own Story In His Own Words’ & 1997’s ‘Cash: The Autobiography’. The movie traces Cash’s early life, romance with June Carter & his life in the country music scene. A 1993 episode of CBS-TV’s “Dr Quinn, Medicine Woman” [previously featured in the 12/29/2015 “Tuesday TV” theme via THIS LINK HERE & the 11/25/2015 “Wednesday Wrap” theme via THIS LINK HERE] provided the connection that sparked the film. Cash guest-starred on the show that year & he & Carter became friends with Jane Seymour (who played the show’s title character); Seymour’s husband, James Keach, directed the episode & Cash later asked Keach to make a film of his life. Tho Rosanne Cash was critical of the movie, generally positive reviews helped make the film a box office success & earn over 20 awards. Cast includes Joaquin Phoenix (Johnny Cash), Reese Witherspoon (June Carter), Ginnier Goodwin, Robert Patrick, Dallas Roberts, Dan John Miller, Larry Bagby, Shelby Lynne, Tyler Hilton (Elvis Presley), Waylon Payne (Jerry Lee Lewis), Shooter Jennings (his Dad, Waylon Jennings), Sandra Ellis Lafferty, Dan Beene, Clay Steakley, Johnathan Rice (Roy Orbison) & Johnny Holiday (Carl Perkins).
