THEME = recreation: featuring Taylor Dayne & The Judds
2 songs from the 10:30p-11:30p timeframe of my 04/27/2007 radio show….
#1
Written by Diane Warren, this song (a favorite of mine) was released 03/20/1990 as the 3rd single from Dayne’s 2nd album, ‘Can’t Fight Fate’. Warren explained on “American Top 40 With Shadoe Stevens” that she originally wrote the song for Tina Turner, but when Turner passed on it, she offered the song to Dayne, whose version features background vocals by Kathy Troccoli. This single became Dayne’s 7th consecutive Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, peaking at #4, summer 1990; it also reached #15 on the Adult Contemporary chart while notching at #4 in Australia & claiming #1 in Canada.
#2
When I hosted my radio shows, I loved playing tunes I enjoyed to showcase all sorts of genres to people who may not have heard them. However, I also enjoyed playing songs that didn’t really resonate with me, simply because what doesn’t fit my life, might fit someone else’s & spark those “memories, even if the whole world has forgotten”. Such is the case with this tune. Debuting 05/09/1987, this song spent 19 weeks on the charts & claimed #1. This single was this duo’s 9th chart topper, with 5 more to come. Their brief career began in late 1983 & took off with their 2nd release, 1984’s “Mama He’s Crazy”, which claimed #1, sparking a string of 8 straight #1 hits.
