“Father Dowling Mysteries” aired for 3 seasons, 01/29/1989 to 05/02/1991, the last 2 years on ABC. The show debuted via the TV movie depicted in this image, 11/30/1987. Based on the adventures of the title character created by Ralph McInerny in a series of mystery novels, this series follows Father Francis “Frank” Dowling, a Catholic priest in his hometown, Chicago IL, who often sported a Chicago Cubs jacket, & his assistant, Sister Stephanie “Steve” Oskowski, a streetwise nun. The cast includes Tom Bosley (title character), who also played the twin brother, Blaine, & Tracy Nelson as Steve. 2 other prominent characters were Father Philip Prestwick (portrayed by James Stephens) & Marie Murkin (played by Mary Wickes). The series featured notable guest stars: Leslie Nielsen, Laurie Holden, Diane Ladd, Steven Culp, Brenda Strong, Stacy Edwards & Robin Thomas.
