1 of my many automotive-related passions is seeing the differences & similarities between the generations & years of various nameplates. Along with that, I enjoy tracing nameplate history & lineage. For instance, from this collage of 4 posters, the Ford Thunderbird started as a Corvette competitor, transitioned into a family 4-door car, became a full-size vehicle, then dropped to the mid-size category to take on the likes of the Monte Carlo & Chrysler Cordoba. The other 3 car evolutions in this collage of posters created by Joseph G: Dodge Charger, Caprice Classic & Pontiac GTO.

BONUS: 5th (& final) Holiday edition this Christmas season 2016! Last year, I featured songs from my 2009, 2010 & 2011 CD Showcase Holiday Edition radio shows on Elgin IL’s WRMN AM. THIS year, something different: featuring playlists from my college radio show Christmas specials on N Manchester IN’s WBKE. Today, the playlist for the 3rd hour (9p-10p) of my 12/09/1995 college radio show:
Alabama: “Christmas In Dixie”
Frankie Valli & The 4 Seasons: “I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus”
Dolly Parton: “Hard Candy Christmas”
Earl Thomas Conley: “Blue Christmas”
Sylvia: “Reflections”
Don Mclean: “Rudolf The Red Nosed Reindeer”
Louise Mandrell & RC Bannon: “Christmas Is Just A Song For Us This Year”
Ricky Skaggs & James Taylor: “New Star Shining”
Handbell Choir: “Carol OF The Bells”
Ronnie Milsap: “It’s Christmas”
Anne Murray: “It Came Upon A Midnight Clear”
Waylon Jennings & Jessi Colter: “Silent Night”
Nat King Cole: “O Come All Ye Faithful”
Juice Newton: “Christmas Needs Love To Be Christmas”
Eddy Raven: “White Christmas”
Andy & Terry Murray: “Treasures For The Road”

  1. I used to do that a lot more frequently in the past than today, like back when my parents had a number of Cadillac’s. Every year the egg crate grille was changed and such.

  2. Yep, exactly, Paul! I loved the 1970s (& earlier) when, each year, the vehicles changed SOMETHING to differentiate the incoming model from the outgoing year. It’s so fun to be able to tell someone without much doubt what year a certain car is!
