You may remember the Christmas Card series featured in the “From The Heart” theme (5a US central), 12/21-26/2015, created by OC,SHer TOM G. This is the 1st of many dioramas cued to feature his more-recent work. In this scene, Tom placed a 1/43 scale 1955 Mercury Montclair in a Design Studio with the backdrop of an old ‘Life’ magazine:

Today, Tom uses a background pic to provide depth of scale, critical when shooting small, close-up items. The image is then printed on heavy stock paper, scaled to the car & placed directly behind it. “It’s something I came up with after some trial & error with background shots taken from old magazines,” Tom explains. “I’m always on the lookout for backgrounds & have some I haven’t used yet.”
