TUESDAY TRIP

Journeys don’t always have to be of the driving variety. Thursday, 08/08/2013 (25th anniversary of the originally-scheduled 1st night game at Chicago’s Wrigley Field), my cousin Brenda & I went to Carpentersville IL to walk at Raceway Woods. I was thrilled to finally be able to say I walked on original concrete where cars once raced! You see, Raceway Woods is the former Meadowdale International Raceway. The path is 3+ miles long & traces the old racecourse. The park is well-maintained & somewhat preserved; however, a few markers along the way with further information would be a nice touch. We could just about hear the race cars roaring down the straightaway (see photo), up & down the hills & around the curves. Want to know more about MIR &/or RW? See this link.
