THROWBACK THURSDAY

Similar to the Ford Thunderbird, the Mercury Cougar nameplate has a colorful history! Originally, 1967-1970, the Cougar was the Ford Mustang’s sibling. Then, 1971-1973, while still based on the Mustang, it took on a more personal luxury feel, sharing the Cyclone’s center grille appearance. It was then paired with the Ford Torino Elite, 1974-1976, before finally becoming Mercury’s version of the Ford Thunderbird (which itself had originally been a competitor of the Corvette) in 1977, lasting until 1997. It’s last generation (1999-2002) was a redesign & renaming of the then-former Ford Probe.
What year or generation is this Mercury Cougar Supercharged XR7?
